Just dropping a line to make sure everyone is as excited as I am about the upcoming week. Not only is it St. Patrick’s Day, which I love because it’s one of the day’s of the year that I get to see almost everyone I know and make new friends. But it’s also the ACC Tournament! I’m so excited to see how the teams do and to finally, see whose going to the NCAA tournament and whose playing in the NIT games. I truly hope NCSU finds the luck of the Irish early on Thursday as they take on Virginia Tech. I feel pretty confident but you never know. As far as tobacco road basketball goes, last Saturday was heartbreaking. Not only did my beloved Wolfpack fall short to Florida State, I had to spend the rest of the night sulking around a bunch of Tarheel’s and Blue Devils. Blah. Good thing I always keep a box of kleenex close by to throw at them. With that I hope everyone has a great week and prepares for the madness of this weekend. Don’t forget to come see me sometime, we’ll have all the games on and great drink specials. Also, y’all don’t forget to sign up on facebook to our NCAA Tournament bracket to enter for a chance to win a $250 gift certificate. With that kind of loot you could buy enough shots to have a few of your friends bebopping around the bar also baseball season comes into full swing. But this old moose is getting well rested for tonight’s trivia and trashy trivia, I can’t wait to see y’all this weekend!
It’s Herman here reporting back from a long absence. You know February is the shortest month but whew do I feel as if I crammed in as much fun as I do every other long month! Between cheering for the Pack, the Canes, welcoming my beloved baseball season, listening to great live music, tapping delicious brews and saying goodbye to some of my favorites, and just generally enjoying everyone’s company I honestly haven’t even had time to write until now. I didn’t want y’all to think I had forgotten about you, even though I’ve been hanging around with most of you who follow my rantings. With February long gone I’ve happily welcomed March and am happier than a moose in the forest over spring! Although the weather’s been crazy that hasn’t stopped most of you from stopping by and seeing me regularly. Thanks to everyone who came out for First Friday, we had so much fun listening to Russ Thompson early and then Catching Fire Unplugged, a new band to the Woody’s stage. I was bebopping all night! If I missed you last weekend or any during February no worries we here at Woody’s have plenty going on in March, which is why they call it MARCH MADNESS! This week marks the end of college basketball’s regular season, which means next week begins the NCAA tournament, one of my favorite parts about being a staple here at Woody’s @ City Market is that I get to watch all the games. This Saturday I’m especially excited because it’s one of the biggest rivalries in the ACC, the Duke, Carolina match up! Also, speaking of basketball don’t forget to “Like” us on Facebook and enter your NCAA bracket for a chance to win a $250 gift certificate. Moreover, this Wednesday we’re tapping Great Divide Old Ruffian for $3.5, what a great deal. On Friday we’re hosting Skinny Bag Unplugged another new band to the Woody’s stage, beginning at 10pm and after the game on Saturday DJ Ian will be bringing the party. So stop by and see me sometime this weeek I’m itching to find out more of your secrets!
H.G. just checking in to tell ya’ll what a great weekend I had. I had so much fun swaying to the beats of Russ Thompson and Q Jones on Friday night. They truly are amazing artists and always put me in the best of moods. Also, I loved seeing an epic NCSU win over Virginia Tech last Saturday- I must admit I was a little nervous when we went into over time but shewww did they pull it out! Congrats to the Heels on their win over Virginia and sorry for all the Blue Devil fans out there for the devastating loss against Maryland. After a full day of games it was nice to see everyone out celebrating and to hear D.J. Ian on the turntables. I wish I could dance more but I wouldn’t want to fall from my post- unless of course there’s an attractive lady under me. Sorry too many Sexual Chocolates have me being a bit moosey. Oh I almost forgot to tell you! We just tapped Foothills Sexual Chocolate and whew it is as delicious as ever! We also tapped New Holland’s Hopivore which is a great IPA, sure to get you in the mood for spring. But if you missed me last weekend no worries you can stop by this week and enjoy one of the many happenings we are hosting here at City Market. Also, on Tuesday NCSU is matching up against Florida State at 7 pm and UNC is taking on Georgia Tech at 9 pm. Also, don’t forgot about Trashy Trivia beginning around 10 pm- I always say a dirty mind is a terrible thing to waste. On Wednesday night we are tapping 21st Amendments Marooned Over Hog Island which will be $3.5 all night. Thursday in addition to trivia, Duke is matching up against Virginia Tech at 9 pm, and we will be having karaoke- which is one of my favorite events- as soon as the game is over. On Friday, Pete Fredrick is rocking the house starting at 10 pm. Saturday is the big match up between NCSU and UNC at 4 pm- we all know it’s going to be a good one, I bought a box of Kleenex to throw out to all those Carolina fans after they lose or dry my own sorrows if something crazy happens. That night we’re hosting another one of my favorites, Acoustic Manner and doing a Natty Greene’s promotion. Come out to support a great local band and brewery starting at 10 pm! Well that’s all from me this time. I must go commence to pre-gaming for the State game. Gooooo Pack! I hope to see ya’ll soon, as always your secrets are safe with me!
Herman here just filling you in on all the excitement from last weekend and to remind you of all the happenings coming up. We made it through another First Friday and boy were we busy! Russ Thompson serenaded the crowd early, opening up for Garland Mason and David Healy who continued to entertain all evening. Saturday was eventful as ever with big triangle games on all day. Congrats to the Heels and Blue Devil fans on their victories over Virginia Tech and Florida State. Wolfpack fans don’t be discouraged, I shed a few tears from my post when Miami made that last play. So much so, the people sitting underneath me gave me a Moose hug- I don’t believe in bear hugs. But that’s all in the past we have plenty of basketball and hockey to watch this week, with UNC taking on Wake Forest at 7 pm this Tuesday, and Miami this Saturday, the 9th at 2 pm. My beloved NCSU is taking on Duke this Thursday, the 7th at 9 pm, who hopefully, they will beat again, and then Clemson on Sunday the 10th at 1 pm. Duke fans get ready for the NCSU game, the Pack is coming and for Boston College on Sunday the 10th at 6 pm. Caniacs come early this Thursday the 7th for the Ottawa game, we have Big Slow Tom’s Trivia at 7 pm and it’s always a good time. Also, get ready for your rematch against the Flyers on Saturday, the 9th. They may have gotten the best of us last weekend but not again this week! I plan to be an exceptionally happy Moose all weekend as my teams work their way to victories. Also, thanks to everyone who made it out for the Superbowl on Sunday, I must tell ya, when Beyonce hit the stage I couldn’t help but dance, to bad her body is too bootylicious and her rump knocked the power out. In addition, to all the games we also have a lot of stuff going on throughout the week you should mark your calendars for. Let’s see, on Tuesday’s we have Big Slow Tom’s Trivia starting at 6:30 pm, with Trashy Trivia around 10 pm. Your mind no matter how intelligent or dirty is a terrible thing to waste. On Wednesday’s we host a weekly keg tapping, which is always nice for you to come in and have the chance to try a new beer at a discounted price…$3.5 for a pint! This Wednesday we’ll be featuring Unibroue’s Blanche de Chambly. Thursday starts our weekend here with Trivia at 7 pm, and karaoke at 10 pm. I love seeing everyone sing and dance and enjoy our great drink specials. Honestly, Thursday is my favorite night of the week for the fact it gets so crazy in here. Friday and Saturday we always host music you jive to. This week we’ll have Adam Pitts rockin’ the stage and the crowd and Nick Driver making us move beginning at 10 pm both nights. But that’s all from me now, I do hope you can come out soon and see me, I enjoy seeing all of you and keeping your dirtiest secrets safe.
