H.G. here again and boy have I been busy! Let’s see if I can fill y’all in on everything that’s been going on here at City Market. So to start with we had our Boulevard Tapping last Wednesday and I must thank everyone who made it out to try one or all six of the brews we had to offer. Then I combated the reign of ice that came down upon us last Friday and shut the city down. Like I said last time…you southerners. Although, it was fun to watch ya’ll slip and slide across the cobblestone, heck I couldn’t tell if you were drunk or just having a ball on the ice. My weekend continued strong with a full Saturday of sports all the games were eventful but I must tell ya it was great to see everyone here for the big NCSU vs UNC game! It’s one of my favorite games of the year and again all I have to say is GOOOOOO PACK! But no worries if you didn’t come hangout with us last weekend we have plenty going on this weekend. Friday is First Friday and it’s always a fun time in here. Russ Thompson is entertaining during dinner and Garland Mason and David Healy are keeping the beat alive the rest of the night. We’ll have all the games on Saturday beginning with UNC playing Virginia Tech at 12pm. Duke is matching up against Florida State at 2pm and my beloved NCSU is taking on Miami at 4pm. Later that evening I hope to see my devoted Caniac fans out cheering against the Flyers at 7pm. After all the games stick around and jam with us, we’re hosting the Porch Crickets-a band native to Myrtle Beach Saturday night beginning at 10pm and they always know how to keep the crowd going. But the party doesn’t stop Saturday night, come by and watch the Superbowl with us on Sunday, we’ll have .50 wings from 12-9, $2.25 Domestics, $3 Mimosas, Bloody Mary’s, and Maria’s, a $100 cash giveaway, and lots of fun! I’m so excited for this weekend and for the upcoming weeks, mark your calendars we are tapping Unibroue Blanche de Chambly next Wednesday the 6th. We’re hosting Adam Pitts- a great local artist on the 8th, and Nick Driver is playing on the 9th. With so much going on around town I hope you’ll stop by and see me here in City Market sometime soon!
It’s H.G. again, just letting y’all know I survived the snowpocalypse of 2013! I must say you southerners are quite crazy when it comes to the threat of snow, fleeing to the grocery stores instead of the bar is a foreign concept to me. Back when I used to live in Canada we would have continuous snow for days on end and look I survived and I still look good, maybe my face was just frozen into this beautiful pose. Oh Canada, how I miss thee…this isn’t to say I don’t love being a part of the Woody’s family, I just miss the snow and ice and hockey. But wait, I just remembered, we ARE having a hockey season this year and I’m in the perfect spot to view all of my favorite teams. You see Woody’s is a downtown sports headquarters. We always show the best games starting this Saturday night we will be showing the opener for the Hurricanes who are playing the Florida Panthers. This should be an easy win since it NEVER snows in Florida and our Caniac fans are some of the best in the Triangle! Also, don’t forget we have the best of College Basketball continuously showing. I know some of you Wolfpack fans are upset over the painstaking loss against Maryland last Wednesday but hey, you’re only playing Clemson on Sunday and I’m sure you’ll do great! Heel fans be prepared this Saturday for the Maryland game, it should be a good one to watch and should get you ready for the big game against the Wolfpack next Saturday evening- the 26th. For the Blue Devil fans out there we’ll have the Miami game playing this upcoming Wednesday the 23rd, and since you’re doing so well we have a special treat that evening a Boulevard Tap Takeover beginning at 7pm. We will be featuring six of their delicious beers for $3.50 a piece and we’re also offering a flight special for $5.50 so you can try them all. You can find more details on the Woody’s Event page or check it out on The Facebook. I’m telling you this isn’t an event you want to miss. As always, we will be featuring great live music in the upcoming weekends beginning this weekend with a few of our personal favorites, Russ Thompson on Friday and Acoustic Manner on Saturday evening, starting at 10pm. Both groups know how to get the crowd moving and are a huge part of the Woody’s family. Next weekend we will be hosting the Windsor Oaks Band on Friday and D.J. Ian on Saturday evening. These guys know how to get the party started too and no worries if you’re unsure of your dance moves we have plenty of daily drink specials to help loosen those bones up. I don’t mean to brag but we also have some of the best craft beer in downtown Raleigh- I just want to say if you haven’t tried the Deuces Wild by local Big Boss Brewery you should! I had one the other night and wooooooo I almost fell from my post I was lovin it so good. But with all the happenings this weekend and next, my beloved hockey season starting, College Basketball getting into full swing, delicious beer tappings, and moving music I just want to say how excited I am to see everyone. Look for me up on the wall and maybe if you’re lucky you can snag a picture with me! Until next time…your secrets are safe with me
Hey Herman here,
Wow what a weekend we had with all the big games. I hope you all made it out to catch the NC State vs Duke basketball game, it was epic we had so many happy State fans. It was crazy watching the madness from my post! It has been wild this weekend with all the playoff games as well. I was sad to see the Broncos lose, but I know the Ravens fans are excited about their divisional game this coming Sunday. Plus we had Rachel Koontz Trio on Friday and I have not seen her in so long it was lovely to hear her voice, you should stop by the next we are lucky enough to have them here and catch what all the craze is about with The Morning After, she is one of our own! Let’s not forget Mr. Thom Crumpton played on Saturday night and he is equally amazing. Well guys we have a pretty good week coming up we will have all the local games, Duke on Thursday night, UNC on Saturday afternoon and NC State on Sunday night. We will also have both AFC/NFC divisional championship games San Francisco 49ers @ ATL Falcons Sunday at 3pm and the Baltimore Ravens @ New England Patriots at 6:30pm, come and grab a tasty beverage so I can enjoy the football fan spirit! Hope to have a great seat again this weekend!
I know it’s been a few weeks since my last post but with all the holiday excitement going on around here I just didn’t have time to write. Christmas just flew by and New Years was so much fun. I must say those of us who were here on New Years Eve definitely left 2012 and welcomed 2013 with a bang! We had an awesome DJ who kept the excitement up even after the ball fell at midnight. It was especially fun for me to look out and see everyone trying to dance, still laughing even when they fell. Moreover, it was exciting to see all the love in the air as everyone seemed to find someone to kiss at midnight, no worries all of your secrets are safe with me! But as we welcome 2013 I just want to let y’all know of a few exciting events we have coming up in January. Tomorrow evening at 7 pm we have a Goose Island Tap Takeover where we’ll be featuring 4 of their brews- 312, Honkers Ale, IPA, and Mild Winter all for $3.5. If you can’t make it to tomorrows tapping but are still crazy about beer-we here at Woody’s certainly are, no worries we will be hosting a Boulevard Tapping on the 23rd at 7 pm at which time we will be tapping 6 specialty brews. Also, in the music arena we will be hosting a few of our favorite past employees in the upcoming Friday’s beginning at 10 pm. Rachel Koontz and her trio will be performing on the 11th and Russ Thompson will be serenading the masses on the 18th. We have so many great events coming up make so make sure to check out the rest of the website to stay updated! I also wish to thank everyone for a great 2012 and can’t wait to spend 2013 keeping all your secrets safe.
